The “2018 Xinqiao -- SYS Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Technique(MISST) Seminar” was hosted by the Departments of Spine Surgery from the Third Affiliated Hospital , SYSU and Xinqiao Hospital, Army Medical University
On September 14th, Department of Spine Surgery of the Third Affiliated Hospital in collaboration with Xinqiao Hospital, Army Medical University, co-hosted an intriguing seminar on Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery Technique(MISST) , aiming to set up academic communication platform , and enhance diagnosis standardizations* . The two sides conducting in-depth discussions on key issues and importance of mutual learning.
Only within the recent years have advances in digital minimally invasive surgical tools allowed minimally invasive spine surgery, also known as MISS, to rise to the forefront of spinal procedures.It leads an easy access to precision medicine, becoming an ongoing?research direction?in future studies and clinical approach，The seminar therefore?themed as “Application of Digital navigation and Artificial Intelligence in MISS. Professor Rong Limin and Professor Zhou Yue reviewed the development of digital navigation, artificial intelligence and robot technology and their applications in MISST at the very beginning, pointing out that these technologies has inevitably been becoming new trends of the discipline.?Attendees, Zhang Chao, Zheng Wenjie, Li Haiyin, Tang Yu , Dong Jianwen, Liu Bin, and Chen Ruiqiang, therewith shared in the academic understanding, including a clinical case of navigation-aided endoscopic cervical spine technique, the ZESSYS Targeted lumbar diseases treatment, robot-aided vertebral fracture &scoliosis deformity treatment and case study of postoperative?palsy PVP. All the experts thoroughly explained the vital issues, anatomy and surgical skills, in the application of digital navigation, artificial intelligence and robotics in MISS. Through clinical cases, spine surgeons frrom two hospitals put heads together to speak their mind on common technical problems, making in-depth exchange.
During the seminar, they reached an important consensus on jointly pursuing academic connections between both hospital. Attendees actively participated in research and discussion as well as exchanges and cooperation with fellow colleagues, indicating growing?academic relationship between the 3rd Affiliated Hospital, SYSU and Xinqiao Hospital, AMU. It is believed?that the seminar will?forcefully?promote the development of spine surgery in the 3rd Affiliated Hospital, SYSU theoretically and clinically.
